Lots of things to report this week:
1. Rick and I both had our first two home study interviews.
2. We turned in our I-600A form to Customs and Immigration Services. (see picture)
3. We had our Federal fingerprinting done. (see picture)
4. I met with our Home Study organization in Louisville and with our Adoption Agency in Lexington to go over paperwork.
Still to do: Apply for passports, get pictures made, wait on references and other paperwork to get done.
Goal: All paperwork turned in by November. Dossier to China by end of December. Dossier logged in February or March. Then approximately 14 month wait for a referral.
Please pray for us that all paperwork will be completed in a timely manner so that we won't have delays. Physical exams and criminal background checks expire after 6 months. We'll be cutting it close!

Yesterday (Sat. Oct. 21) the post office was having a passport fair. It was like the one stop shop for passport applicants. There were even snacks and goodies. It takes approximately 8 weeks to process. Please keep that in mind when you do apply for your passports...the time factor.
We got our passport applications turned in this past Tuesday. Yes, the 6-8 week time period will cut it close for us. Nothing else to do, though. For an extra exorbitant fee, we could have had the process speeded up . . . but, we chose to try our luck. Hopefully we chose correctly.
What got me was the $30 processing fee the post office charges in addition to the cost of the passport itself. All they did was staple everything together and put it in a folder to ship off the State Dept.
$30 for that? Problem is that I don't think a person can go anywhere else to get a passport other than the post office. So they've got a bit of a captive market there and can charge whatever they want.
